PDF Exports Disabled
In response to a recent flooding of PatronusCharm's server, PDF exports are now disabled. PDF exports takes a LOT of processing power, and I had assumed that the members of the site would respect and not abuse this feature. I also made sure that Googlebot and the like wouldn't hit it and spike loads. But today a client from France apparently used some sort of spidering technology to perhaps index the site for his/her own use, which did not respect robots.txt and proceeded to hit the PDF export on every single story PC has, and at the time I stopped requests, the process had indexed over 350 pages within a 5 minute interval. This, of course, led to the server being saturated with PDF conversion (about 20 concurrently) and leading to DLP stopping requests to stem the load. I've since disabled PDF exports for an indeterminate amount of time, and perhaps will reappear as a donation-only service.

Sorry to hear about that. Perhaps you can implement some sort of image verification (like you do when registering) to prevent automated PDF downloads.

Ghostdraconi's idea is capital. In anycase, if PDF exports aren't possible, I hope you at least implement a text export feature that will display all chapters on one page for easy copy-paste.

I agree with silverlasso, i would have liked to use the pdf export freature, but as this is no longer avilable somethng like a "printer friendly" button that displays the entire story in plain text for easy ctrl-a , ctrl-c , ctrl-v into openoffice and convert to pdf from there. Just another thought is it possible to make a library like DLP's library with the different stories, rankings/ratings and summaries for easier access than the search function an the different catagories menu. Anyway this is one of the best HP fiction sites on the web.

zooxle: See The one-page one story export feature has already been added. It can be previewed at by looking for the Export All link in the story header.
