Review for Chapter 15 from Aaran St Vines on May 02, 2009 at 05:14:31 PM
Your Trials of Magic so far seem to be better than canon's competition.

I've wanted Draco to suffer from his actions in a significant way. This looks like it might be it.

Interesting how Harry could "travel" to study with Ollivander, et. al.

I can't wait to hear more about Ollivander's cabal.

The three additional schools will certainly add spice to the year. Will you have additional events since they are showing up 1-1/2 months earlier than canon?

Very different World Cup all around.

What of Winky, I wonder.

Very interesting - Charlie's explanation about Percy and the twins.

Great events. I've often thought about making the venom and tears fight each other in Harry. Clever.

Thank you for all the wonderful reviews! It's great to know someone actually likes my stories. :-)

I really liked the idea of far reaching consequences for some of his earlier adventures and the pain Harry feels from the venom, and his bond to Fawkes will actually come in to play more later on.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other comments, ideas, or questions. I always enjoy talking about my stories.

More great advancement of the relationship and Harry's magical abilities and understanding.

Good work.

Another excellent treatise on your theories of magic.
Review for Chapter 7 from Aaran St Vines on May 02, 2009 at 11:07:30 AM
You continue to develop a fascinating theory of advanced magic.

1 - The tourist attractions, particularly the Cetera Zoo - were terribly creative work on your part.

2 - Since this is a Harry/Katie, Katie will survive the revelation that Harry is just clueless, and not as attracted to her - that he is aware of.

3 - You have very clever explanations about magic and how to make it more effective rather than powerful. Loved the examples and analogies.

Very well done.

Had a great time writing that chapter. What I wouldn't give to be able to visit the Cetara zoo...

Coming up with the ideas for magic was pretty time consuming, but I liked how it gave the story an extra bit of realism. I'll hopefully have even more in the chapters to come
Review for Chapter 5 from Aaran St Vines on May 02, 2009 at 08:12:49 AM
Excellent introduction for a potential girlfriend. Few people nod to just how socially stunted Harry is due to the Dursleys. This works. I await seeing how Katie transitions his thoughts to herself from Alicia in underwear.

This continues to be a unique story - high praise in HP fanfiction. It's also well written. I like Ollivander and his motivation. His selection of teaching material as you've outlined it is quite good also.

This was a great passage you wrote:

"Ollivander believed that being a wizard was far more than just using magic, and decided he would teach Harry how to become a 'proper wizard,' and not 'a Muggle who can use magic.'" The distinction of a proper wizard is a wonderful concept.

Terrific relationship you're building between Harry and Ollivander.

Thanks, I really worked hard to try and make this story different than many I read in Fanfiction. Hopefully I'll be able to carry that concept out throughout the rest of the story.

Interesting. I only know of one other tale where Ollivander gave Harry significant educational help, and I wrote that one.
Author reply from Fission
That's great. So many people use Ollivander for such small, bit parts that it's nice to see someone else use him as well. Whats the name of your story? I'd like to read it sometime.

Several interesting twists I've not seen before.

Great start!

Review for Chapter 13 from Awelowynt on September 08, 2008 at 04:50:58 AM
Thank you ever so much for writing such a thoroughly enjoyable story. I have one major complaint, however - There's not any more to read!

I eagerly await your next installment.
Review for Chapter 3 from Awelowynt on September 08, 2008 at 12:08:13 AM
So far, this story has been an absolute joy to read. The basic premise of future memories is reasonably original, but the use of Ollivander as a mentor is something I don't believe I've ever seen before. The fact that you've written his character in a convincing manner and with more depth than a storefront are also things I'd be hard pressed to find.

I look forward to reading the rest of the story.

Brilliant work so far. Keep it up, I'm looking forward to the next installment.
