I like the way you showed Snape getting owned.
But the thing is
#1 it felt weird that there wasn't 9 layers in hell
#2 It felt a bit too long
Review for Dark Respite Chapter 11 from ReviewerOfTheWest on May 05, 2008
Pretty creepy with everything that is happening.
You said in chapter 9 that there were two Horicrux left not including Voldemort himself. The goblins found one, Harry is one, and Harry killed Voldemort again, so all Harry has to do is get rid of all existing Horicrux, all of which he has in his possession, and Voldemort is dead, neh? Unless Voldemort started dividing his 1/7th of a soul (or down to .8% if you believe in the "split in half" theory of soul-splitting) further, it is game over.
I don't understand why Moody is so hung up on Harry killing DEs. I guess we don't have a lot of canon experience with the real one in a fight, but he does give the vibes of caring what happens to them.
The dream team is all together I see (if you count Ringhurst as the untrustworthy accomplice/spy with his own motives). How can Harry possibly fail?
Please continue.

Nice work. I enjoyed Harry's play of the Goblins.

...ahahaha. Nice. Good show, Omagic. Looks like Harry will be needing a new wand after all.

Sorry I've been so late in responding. I usually respond to reviews at work but because IE6 isn't compatible I can't write back while I'm there. Again, thanks for the review and for continuing to read. I really appreciate both! ~Omagic

I like Salazar. And I shudder to think of what sort of Voice Godric would be. Harry is incredibly tough: that he's still fighting (and whining) after all this is awesome. Great storytelling.

Thanks for leaving a review! Yeah just the thought of thinking up all the mannerisms and speech patterns for Godric would have been a nightmare! Harry's a tough if not slightly insane bastard in this one, hope you like the next chapter.

Hmm... I liked this chapter. As always, my favourite part of this story remains the interaction between Harry and Slytherin - its funny, intelligent, and the wordplay is sparkling. Especially the conversation at the end abuot the morality of Harry's suffering - that's an awesome, and ultimately fool-proof, way of looking at the struggle.
Love it.
Aw, poor Dobby. Poor, poor Dobby. I'm hoping we've not seen the last of the unfortunate rat. Imagine the hilarity that will ensue with Dobby as Harry's kickass sidekick. Ha, that would be so awesome - dark, brooding, cool Harry flash apparating all over the place, immortal and all-powerful, and then bam - Dobby wearing a cape and mask tagging right alongside.
That'd be wicked.
Ha, and yeah, still on the plot I think the idea of flash-apparation is, again, cool and wicked and all that jazz.
I'm still wondering where you're going with this - beyond the obvious key plot points, of course - and what the final confrontation will be like. But getting ahead of myself there, and pretty much just enjoying the story as it goes along.
Looking forward to the next update, looking forward to (hopefully) more Dobby.
Cheers,

Again, thank you for another kick ass review! When I started thinking about this story I wanted to take on a fix where Harry didnt have a lot of people around him so fthat I was forced to write something that couldn't lean on dialogue as a crutch. And while I think the structure of the story has required that I have an even balance of dialogue and action and description, the dialogue rains without a doubt my favorite part of the story telling. All of that to say that it makes it all the more appreciated to hear that the interactions are your favorite part! Thanks for the compliments on the plot points hopefully you'll like how they shake out. Cheers, Omagic

Has the original plot changed? (I somehow remember other chapters with Hermione and Ron finding Harry at Godric's Hollow)
I'm not exactly sure whether I imagined it now... XD
Author reply
Nope no changes to the plot, this is just a chapter previous to all of that activity with Ron and Hermione. An update to the end of the story should be ready soon! Thanks! ~Omagic

Good chapter. I enjoyed the scene with Filmore quite a bit, Harry's apparent immortality is rather amusing. The lack of italics makes it a bit hard to determine Slytherin's speech though.

Thanks for another review! It wasn't until you pointed out the like of italicized text that I realized my dumb ass had uploaded an older version of the chapter. I've since gone back and updated the chapter with the correct file. Thanks for pointing it out!

Hey,
Oh, so we're forbidden to review, I see. Well, I don't take too kindly to being 'forbidden'... I'm going to leave such a good and long review out of pure spite...
Just read through the story and have to say I am enjoying it. My favourite touch is Harry's thoughts at the beginning of each chapter, and also the dark and independent humour he possesses - that's always fun to read and fun to watch unfold.
A voice of one of the Founder's, usually Gryffindor, in Harry's head has been tried and true for years now, but I've never read a story that has a fresh as approach as this one. It's simply exciting to read, although I'm kind of hoping Harry doesn't become too powerful and that Voldemort will pose a real challenge.
And I wonder if we've seen the last of Ron and Hermione? I hope not. Will Harry be able to die, I also wonder? These are all points about the plot that I definitely don't want to know before reading them in the story. Half the fun is working it out along the way.
Semantics, semantics, semantics.... The chapters have good grammar and excellent spelling, which is the first foundation to be cemented for any competent writer. You have a good beta - I keep meaning to get one for my own stories, but I don't have the patience there. I can never wait to post a new chapter as soon as its written and I've given it the once over. I'm review-hungry!
Loved the idea behind the Wizard Hunter - especially him being touched in the head a little bit... and a little bit more. I can see a few ways the story could progress from here, yet no doubt I'm probably way off - again, I hope so, as far too many fanfiction stories are transparent from about chapter two onwards.
Looking forward to reading, (and reviewing out of spite), the future chapters.
Thank you for writing a good story, there are too few. I hope you see it through and complete it.
All the best,

First off thank you for the awesome review! I guess this is the part where I respond, "Aha! See how it is that you've fallen victim to my clever rouse designed to tricking you into leaving such a review!" Truth is I'd only gotten a couple reviews thus far so I had nothing to lose throwing that poor attempt at motivation out there... Thank you for all the nice compliments about the story and the writing. There will certainly be more info and interactions in the areas you mentioned, but I won't threaten you with any hints that might spoil any of it. Hopefully when it's all said and done you won't find that too many things were transparent :) Cheers, Omagic

Great story, Omagic. Very enjoyable. One can only hope that Harry gets out of his all-knowing kick and actually starts to listen to Slytherin. I suppose we'll see once you post new content, eh?

Thanks for the review. It always means a little more when our kind host enjoys the story that I was able to put up on his site. I'm going to keep posting the content I've got to date a couple days at a time. Hopefully I'll get the story done soon! ~Omagic
