Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 8 from rune1806 on April 09, 2008
A very intresting twist with Malfoy, i really liked it. But if she is a spy why show her the joining?
Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 8 from whatareyouevensaying on April 09, 2008
It's so nice to have another update so quickly! This chapter, like all of the others, was outstanding. I really like how personal it was, showing just about every aspect of the Harry/Fleur situation without any real repetition.
Looking forward to more.

Another excellent update. I'm really interested to see what Harry will do about the Yule Ball. My money was on Hermione, but now I think he might actually end up going with Fleur. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Looking forward to more.

Good update is Percy under some curse?

I decline to state. :)

Nice story so far. I've enjoyed the new concepts, and it's well written. I certainly look forward to more.
I'm not entirely sure the point of including Rolf if you didn't have a reason or further use in the plot. Is it an important point in the future?
Author reply
Rolf was included for a couple reasons: the first, to lend gravitas to the scene (the beta readers suggested that it fell a bit flat otherwise); the second, to give me a hook for the sequel that I'm plotting. He won't make much more of an appearance in this story.

the first part was all over and hard to follow but the rest made up for it. Great job, I liked the boy in the stands.
Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 6 from whatareyouevensaying on April 05, 2008
Uh oh, Ron is going to suffer for this one...stupid git. Too bad JKR didn't think to have Skeeter use him in canon, might've saved the last couple of books if she decided to drop him. Nah...
Excellent update, all in all. I loved the role played by every witch mentioned, and Harry was Harry, which is really all we need.
Looking forward to more.

Seeing as I just got a shiny new account on Patronuscharm... *review*
Well, I'm upset that I forgot to tell you earlier, when the chapter was not yet officially out -- at first I didn't have the time, and then... well, the Müller's. Sounds to me like a family with a German origin. It really does, it's a common German name, so first congratulations on getting it actually right (and I'm not being sardonic here -- you wouldn't believe what names I read that people _thought_ to be German).
But at the same time, that's what made me stumble a bit. Maybe it's a bit too common. Wasn't Manuel Müller supposed to be a proud pureblood with a linage that could be traced back into the Middle Ages? I dunno, it's a bit like Draco Malfoy was called... Robert Smith, perhaps.
You'd think that someone like the person you described him to be was called... uh, Adolf von Weißenfels? I'm just throwing in a random name here, but one that (to me) would sound more like a person that owned an ancestral home.
That's not to say it's wrong per se, after all, we have a pureblood family named Black, and it could very well be that within the hundreds of thousands of Müllers there are there's one that went from being a miller to having wealth and influence -- it's most likely even probable. It's more that if you wanted to _emphasize_ your point, _then_ Müller might not be your first choice.
But than again, I'm probably the only one who'll ever get that sort of thoughts in the first place, so it's not a big deal.. well it' really isn't a big deal either way. I'm just being picky, so I'll shut up now ;-)
Everything else has been said in the Forums, I guess -- that dragon scene was great, I'm a bit irritated how Hermione and Ginny treated Fleur (okay, fuming more likely), Robért is... Robért, and I'm going to read the next chapter in the WbA section while watching football (soccer for you Americans) just about now.
Cheers, mate.

Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 5 from whatareyouevensaying on April 03, 2008
Pretty interesting update, particularly the bits centered around Hermione and Fleur. In that order. Not complaining, mind, just offering my perspective. I still look forward to see more of Fleur, especially now that Harry is officially entered.
Looking forward to more.

The first five chapter are very good, the only thing I ask is for less French as I do not understand it.
Author reply
I assure you, French is used less frequently in the remainder of the story. And, for what it's worth, it's been pointed out by some of the francophones who have read the piece that neither do I. :) Here's a few translations: le Survivant: "the survivor", how the Boy-Who-Lived is referred in French (I'm told). mon apprenti: my apprentice La Côte d'Azur: the French Riviera, where Beauxbatons Academy is located. c'est magnifique, non? It's magnificent, is it not? le Voleur: The thief. (The Rosicrucians' name for Dumbledore). ma petite: my little one amélioration: improvement but: a mark or target (for a spy or assassin). encore, s'il vous plait: again, please Best wishes, -Brian

If Harry can see that something is wrong with Moody shouldent Dumbledore? and you would think Dumbledore would know what it meant...
Thanks for writing,
Jay

Jay, a very fair question. Keep it in mind as the story evolves--it will be answered. -Brian

Another very impressive update. I liked the addition you made about "Moody" using a second, stronger Imperius. The scene with Fleur was enlightening as well. It's nice to see that her character will have to develop.
Looking forward to more.

Thanks a bunch for your comments and the feedback. I think I'll use a couple of the new scenes in the next chapter to develop Fleur a bit more. Best wishes, -Brian
Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 3 from whatareyouevensaying on March 29, 2008
One hell of an opening attack. Nice to see that these assassins aren't playing around. I liked this update quite a bit, it really set things up nicely for the future. Ron is impossible, and Hermione is...disappointing, but more because she doesn't seem willing to fight to remain Harry's friend. Then again, Ron isn't the only one that's jealous of him. I liked Dean's role quite a bit as well. Your Fleur also continues to amaze me.
Looking forward to more.

Not sure if I dig the present tense, but I suppose I'll have to get used to it. Nice enough idea, and fairly well written (even with the present tense).
However, there were a few errors I managed to find. Nothing major, but you may want to fix 'em.

Hi Oz. Thanks for the feedback. I'll fix whichever ones you point out to me. ('maunders' is a word, albeit a somewhat obscure one). Best wishes, -Brian
Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 2 from whatareyouevensaying on March 26, 2008
This is a quality story you've got going here, and I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that the first draft of the whole thing is already complete.
One of my favorite things so far is the way you handled Ginny. She seemed to have his interest before, but now he's moved on in terms of maturity and left her behind. Very interesting.
Looking forward to more, hopefully in a little less than a week!
Review for Dagger and Rose Chapter 1 from Jay-F on March 24, 2008
Interesting... Dumbledore seems a bit out of character, but then again we never have much exposure to him in canon anyways which gives you quite a bit of wiggle room. I look forwards to seeing where you take this.
Thanks for writing,
Jay
