Chapter One: Chocolate Frogs

. . .

Draco Malfoy was sitting in the compartment with Pansy and Blaise.

“I’m so bored.” He said. “Why did we have to come back to this stupid school?”

“I don’t know.” Pansy said.

“My parents made me.” Blaise said.

“Mine too.” Draco said.

“I don’t see the point in coming back. I mean, we’re 18 now.” Pansy said. “We should be able to do anything we want!”

“But if we don’t go back to Hogwarts, then we’ll go to jail.” Blaise said.

“That’s the only reason I’m coming back.” Pansy said.

“This sucks.” Draco said.

“You’re telling me.” Blaise said.

“Aw, Drakey-poo. We could have gotten married!” Pansy said, holding onto Draco’s arm rather tightly.

“How about I go and get some chocolate frogs?” Draco said, talking to no one in particular, but trying to get away from Pansy none-the-less.

“I’ll come.” Blaise said.

“All right then. Let’s go.” Draco said.

“What about me?” Pansy asked in a whiney voice.

“Go and talk to Millicent for all I care.” Draco said.

“All right.” She said before she walked off to find Millicent.

Draco and Blaise got up and walked down the aisle after the spotted the cart.

“Do you really want chocolate frogs? You seemed to hate them last time.” Blaise said.

“No, I just want to get away from Pansy.” Draco said.

Blaise chuckled.

“And why is that?” Blaise asked.

“She’s way too clingy for my taste.” Draco said.

“What about her?” Blaise asked.

“Who?” Draco asked.

“Her.” Blaise replied as he pointed down the aisle to a brunette girl whose back was turned towards them.

“Who’s that?” Draco asked.

“I don’t know.” Blaise admitted. “But she’s got a hot body.”

Draco smirked.

“I agree.” Draco said.

Blaise walked up to her and tapped her shoulder.

She turned around and Draco saw who it was.

Hermione Granger.

“Dammit.” Draco muttered under his breath.

“What the hell do you want, Zabini?” Hermione snapped.

“Nothing, I just…”

“Move it, mudblood.” Draco said coming to his friends’ rescue. “We’re getting some chocolate frogs.”

Hermione just rolled her eyes at them and stepped into the compartment that she was standing outside of.

Draco turned to look at her.

“Why are you standing outside of that compartment and not inside of it?” Draco asked.

Hermione pointed inside at Lavender and Ron snogging while Ginny and Harry were doing the same thing on the other side.

“A bit lonely then, aren’t we Granger?” Draco asked before he turned to walk back with Blaise to the place where they were sitting.

Hermione was confused as to why they didn’t grab their chocolate frogs.

. . .

Hermione Granger was sitting in between Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley in the Great Hall. They, along with all the other previous seventh years, had returned to Hogwarts to finish their seventh year. They were sitting in the Great Hall with everyone else, waiting for Professor McGonagall to address them after the sorting of the first years was finished.

“Welcome back everyone, to another year at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry.” She said. “But this year will be different.”

She looked around at everyone and everyone looked back at her.

“To celebrate the end of the war, we will have the previous seventh year prefects decide upon a celebration for everyone from the fifth year and up. Everyone who is in the fourth year and under shall host their own celebration.” McGonagall said.

Everyone looked at each other in excitement.

“To accommodate all the returning seventh years, we have made extra dorms in all of the houses.” McGonagall said.

“Good.” Harry said, “I don’t want to share a dorm with some stupid wizards from another year.”

“Harry.” Hermione said, hitting him on the head.

“What?” Harry asked innocently.

Hermione just rolled her eyes.

“You are dismissed, returning seventh years, stay behind.” McGonagall said.

Everyone but the returning seventh years got up and walked to their dorms.

When everyone was gone, McGonagall looked over at the remaining people.

“I would like all the prefects to have a meeting in the library tomorrow to discuss celebration ideas. The celebration shall be held in two weeks. Come up with ideas tonight, discuss them tomorrow and select the top five ideas. You will then vote on those. Every one who is not a prefect but has an idea may contact their house prefects and tell them their ideas then the prefects may decide whether to discuss the idea with the rest of the prefects.” McGonagall said. “Is that clear?”

She looked at everyone.

“Yes.” Everyone said at once.

“Wonderful. Meeting in the library at 5 tomorrow.” McGonagall said before walking away somewhere.

Everyone in all of the houses started talking at once.

“Aren’t you excited?” Lavender asked someone who was sitting next to her.

“Oh. This sounds wonderful!” Ginny said.

“Yeah. Wonderful.” Ron said sarcastically.

Sure, he wanted to celebrate, but he knew that all of the girls would be too busy preparing for this that they wouldn’t properly ignore him.

Hermione and Ginny ignored him.

“So what do you guys think we should do for the celebration?” Hermione asked.

“How about…just a normal party?” Harry suggested.

“Harry, we can have just a normal party anytime! McGonagall is letting us throw a huge extravagant…anything! And you just want to have a normal, boring party like at the end of our Quidditch games?” Ginny asked.

“No, I just meant, why not have a huge, extravagant party?” Harry lied.

“How about a dance instead?” Parvarti suggested.

Hermione and Ginny looked over at her.

“That sounds like a great idea! I’ll suggest that at the meeting tomorrow.” Ginny said excitedly.

“Great.” Parvarti smiled.

Hermione smiled at Ginny.

“This is going to be so exciting.”

. . .

It was sort of shorter than I usually write for you guys, but oh well.
