I do hope you are able to be inspired to finish this. I have never seen a storyline like this before and would love to see how it ends

An interesting twist! I was particularly impressed with the way you had Molly react, as it was completely in character. The fallout of that act will be interesting, as even though Harry will probably forgive her, the relationships there will never be the same. I have added you to my alert list.

I love AU's, especially if it is pre-OoTP. I hope her death doesn't have a negative effect on Harry's friendships. I'll be looking forward to your updates. =)

I enjoyed it. I think that this is one of the best spots in the books to have a change in Harry. I am often disappointed by JKR's view of Harry. For a great wizard he seems to sleep in class a lot. Hope to see more.

Intersting stuff, but if Harry really does go on the road to improving himself at some point in time he will have to look at all the problems that are not his fault. Being put in a house with magic hating muggles raised totaly ignorant of all things magical. Being taught by some absolutely worthless teachers like the DaDa professors and Snape. He is supposed to save the world from voldemort, already run into a shade of him twice and yet no one is really training him seriously. Even if he wanted to learn he would of had to do it all on his own from books. Then Harry was also really exposed to how worthless the wizarding worlds population was in this year. Hated him instantly for talking to snakes, leave every thing to him again because no one would really listen to him just like in his first year, then blame him when he some how fails to slay a 60ft baskalisk and save the girl perfectly. I don't know if this story has a direction planned, but if Harry is serious about training to become powerful I can't see him comming back to hogwarts. Sure it has a useful libary but it's rules and teachers would do nothing but hurt his progress.

It has a lot of potential to be great, don't give up on it, think about posting it on fanfiction.net. Keep it up.

I agree with you, this story does have a lot of potential. I'm pleased by the nature of Ginny's death, because usually when she dies in fanfiction, the reader has little (if any) regret for her. This time we never had to see what she might have become, so she was just an innocent girl. Well done. I also liked Mrs. Weasley's reaction. I don't know if it's the beginning of the end of Harry's friendship with the Weasley family. I doubt it, given Ron and Arthur, but you never know. Either way, I expect you'll pull it off nicely. Looking forward to more.

I dunno why first review didn't show. o.o Anyway. I like your premise. I've always felt that saving Ginny had been a very crucial point in Harry's life, certain aspects of which are often underestimated by the authors. People talk about Parseltongue and shit, but they usually don't pay attention to the core theme of the story: how a small boy, despised by all his peers, still finds enough strength within himself to go and face death to rescue someone he knows. Oh, that aspect was present in SS/PS, certainly. Harry's been a heroic figure all his life. Still, the threat posed by Quirrell was, frankly, vaguer; his motivations only subject to guesses, and it might even be said that they couldn't have been sure that there was actual danger to themselves until prtty near the end. CoS isn't like that; instead of starting off with world os wonders like in SS/PS, it starts with Harry imprisoned by his own family, then warned by the MoM... the tone is grim from the first page. And it all escalates, the tempo increasing all the while as Harry and Ron face expulsion, students petrified, the parseltongue revelation, and the whole school suspicious of Harry's movements... yes, the tone is clear. Adversity. But Harry doesn't let up. Even when Dumbledore himself is made to leave, he doesn't lose faith; and when Ginny's name turns up on the bloody wall, he makes the choice. A choice that might very well mean the ultimate sacrifice. So what if it had gone wrong? Having made a choice... such a choice... what if it had all gone wrong? Yeah, you know where I'm coming from. Our choices make us what we are, yes - but seeing such an outcome of the choice Harry would have been driven on a different road, to a life that might've differed from what we know by distances unimaginable. So I like your premise. It has promise... it's one of the most promising premises ever to be in the Potterverse. So many writers go with the tide and make him into just another warrior, powerful and perfect. They just can't gauge the amount of damage such an event might've had on his psyche. I hope I won't be disappointed, here, Mr|F. ;)

A lot of potential it has. I am myself doing an Alternate after CoS event where Riddle succeed taking place in Harry's mind and start to mold him for Greatness. I had thought of this kind of alternative too (your story) but I will gladly just read what a fellow author will write about it :D Really good beginning, maybe Harry's magic thingy was a bit too early in my opinion, I would have make it during his third year probably. However, I'm waiting for your next chapter. May you always find comfort in your quill, Edvin

Great to see you finally posted this - I always liked this one.

I really enjoyed this. I hope that you do find the inspiration to keep working on this as there are no fics out there (that are any good) that use this as a diversion from canon. In short this could be absolutely epic if you do it right.
