I have to be somewhere in--well, now, actually, but I just finished reading this and decided that what the hell, I'm gonna review.
I'll keep this short. The ideas: brilliant and creative. After a while they just all fall into place and I'm left feeling high. Or well, not really. That would be weird.
The scenes are nicely done. You don't waste time with unnecessary paragraphs and go straight to the action. Whether it be laziness on your part or intentional, I love it.
Your Harry is amazing. He's the Dark Lord, but he doesn't appear to be. I mean, besides his tendency for killing people... erm, anyway. He actually has an idea and plan of where to go, instead on mindlessly mrudering people for fun. In prospect, Voldemort seems very out of class.
Actually, this wasn't short at all. I'm typing as fast as I can while impatient tyrants are breathing down my back.
Gotta jet,

I'm glad you like it so much! I frequently forget about PC, so I have a backlog of chapters I'll get around to putting up here soon.
I have to confess that I have recently become interested in a time travel story where Harry is dark, or evil. Most of what I have found follow the formula of Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past
Unfortunately your ideas have not been executed very well. For one, Harry is was out of character. This is ok, but there is no explanation. He is also stupid, with the type of plans anyone with foreknowledge of the books could cook up. And did I say stupid? Because what about false a birth certificate and whatnot? He has a vault and a house? How? He doesn't even have citizenship. You clearly haven't thought this out very well.
The killing of Voldemort was boring. Beyond boring. It was pathetic. He is the most powerful Dark Lord ever. Period. Yet your non-Super!Harry killed him piece of piss? As if. What about his legilmency? Spidey sense? Women's intuition? If it was that easy to kill him he'd have been whacked by the Ministry ages ago.
I skimmed through everything after Voldemort died. From what I saw, it sucked. There is really nothing good about this. It is lame, unbelievable, and just not very well thought out.

For one, if you had made it past the first chapter, you would know that I reveal bits and pieces of his past which explain why he is, the way he is. Chapter eight will have the most information but I don't image you'll be back, which is fine. I think you assume there's more organization to the Wizarding world than there is, imo--I think the entire series showed the Ministry was kind of haphazard in a lot of ways. I doubt the goblins really care where he's from and anytime you pay in cash, people are unlikely to ask questions. This was far from a critique and was quite useless. You seem to expect me to follow your interpretation--a more orderly Wizarding ministry for example (let's remember this was the height of Voldemort's power, shall we? When times are bad, people don't ask questions about purchasers). You don't know very much about people, do you? I'm also guessing you missed the visit to Persepolis and the lovely flashback/dream about he and Hermione's visit to Iraq (right around the time period I'm expecting, IRL, for us to finally get out of there). Thanks for the useless, idiotic review!

Love the story, sad you didn't update on FF.net though
Author reply
This was me catching up here, lol. Chapter eight has yet to be posted either here or there. :) Soon, though.
In other words, and actual effective Dark Lord. Thanks for the excellent read.

:) Thanks!

Brilliant effing chapter! It was just perfect. Well, there were some formatting errors with the scene breaks near the beginning, but otherwise perfect, I think.
I loved the memories you had Harry show them, but I'm curious in what ways he stretched the truth. Will we even find out? It might not be essential to the story, and my curiosity is far from overwhelming, but it's there.
Looking forward to more.
Author reply
Thanks! And I shall have to go fix those errors, then. I do believe the next chapter will answer that, at least a little. It's currently undergoing beta'ing, so you won't have to wait long. :)

I keep meaning to upload chapter seven...and forgetting. If it makes you feel any better, chapter eight in in beta'ing and chapter nine is in the works. :)
poor lily :-(
and damn, i hope it isn't abandonned.
Author reply
Oh, no. I'm working on chapter eight, actually. I just forget to update this place, is all. :P And yeah, poor Lily.
Lily closed her eyes against Snape's report and leaned over to James. “We're raising Harry as a pacifist.â€
Author reply
You know, everyone seems to think that line is hilarious. :? I didn't intend it to be, actually, but go figure, lol.

Ahhh. Now I hope Ibex has a true ally in the Order. Hopefully, James will join his wife if what I suspect here is true.
Great tale for sure.
Author reply
Thanks! James is still kind of ambivalent about the whole thing, actually.

I can buy Dumbledore's view that Ibex is mad to a point, but I wonder if Dumbledore's own brand of madness will drive the Order to a point that they will be thwarting progress of the magical world, thinking Ibex is a complete madman, instead of slightly twisted by events he experienced.
No offer of an olive branch or offer to work together. Dumbledore seems to be intent on fighting Ibex.
Fascinating.
Next twists in this tale.

Funny thing about that, I don't see Dumbledore as mad. Flawed, but not nuts, really. We'll see what he does though. Characters, even ones that aren't mine, seem to like to slip off my leash. I really ought to update this story, as I' have chapter seven done and am half way through eight, I think. I always forget about PC because it's quiet here and the load function drives me nuts.

Entirely too much fun here.
I can't buy that Dumbledore has "figured it out" already. Hopefully you'll through him a curve ball soon.

Rather interesting that Dumbledore seemed to "sacrifice" Remus to join the Deluge when he already had Snape in the Inner Circle. The Order assumes Ibex is just like Voldemort to a serious degree. Therefore this is a condemnation to a degree of Lupin to a more despised status than just a werewolf.
I wonder if you plan to tip Remus to Dumbledore's dubious motives.
Good work!
Author reply
I think you interpret Dumbledore as being evil-he's not. I wanted him to be manipulator, yes, but he also knew he wasn't getting anything from Snape. Remus is dead clever and a very valuable potential ally. If he had joined, I he would have rocketed up through the ranks and could have been a good source of information for Dumbledore. He didn't know, yet, that Remus has a history with Ibex. Anyway, thanks!

Awesome update. Not quite what I imagined in the way of parental confrontation but great nonetheless. I'm a little surprised that Harry showed her those memories. With James, I think his attitude will eventually drive Lily away.
Author reply
Thank you. :) Harry still has the need for family--it's a lot less, now but he still wants that connection. James will be watching the memories at some point, I think and he'll change his tune.
brilliant. nice to see some of harry's life... i have been waiting for something like this for a while... how will lily feel about ibex now... was it bravery or stupidity that caused her to confront ibex.... look forward where you take this story.

Thanks!

Truth be told, I don't think Lily was that bad in this update, James was the reactionary fool for speaking the way he did about vampires without thinking.
I particularly enjoyed Snape's reflective scene. It was nice to see him come to the correct conclusion about Ibex's motivations for keeping him so miserable.
Looking forward to more.
Author reply
I didn't intend for Lily to *be* bad in this chapter, she got the crap scared out of her. She asked for it, though. And yeah, James was a fool. :) He's lucky Remus is quite even tempered. Thanks!

I can see Harry confronting his "parents" about how they are going to try to raise Baby Harry (B-Harry). I think that the raising of B-Harry to be a pacifist might actually make him worse off in the end and actually result in time travel madness.
Author reply
Oh yes, definitely a possibility. :) I've been thinking of that myself and huzzah for character clash! ...And not you've given me an idea as to how to do that. :D Thanks!
Lovely stuff!
Author reply
Thanks! I do try, lol.

So much for Ibex not affecting how Lily and James raise their son. Stupid gits...
Excellent update nonetheless. I'm exceedingly glad that Greyback is gone. Harry knew that his actions were unforgivable, but he couldn't kill him without more recent justification.
Looking forward to more.
Author reply
Not gonna lie, it's going to get worse for Lily and James regarding how they raise Harry loooong before it gets better. I was particularly cruel to poor Lily in the next chapter about it. Thanks!

Given how long that blatant slashfic lasted here (if it has, in fact, been deleted at last), I wouldn't worry too much. This story has all the makings of DLP excellence, and a little incidental mention of a Male/Male relationship that is in no way central to the story won't bother most of the reasonable folks.
At any rate, this update was excellent. I really enjoy how candid Harry, or Ibex, I should say, is with whoever he speaks with. It's very nice to see a shrewd Harry who still retains some of the character's canon frankness, but none of his foolishness.
Looking forward to more.
Author reply
Awesome and thank you.
Interesting story, but not long enough to know if I'll like it.
Author reply
I just added another chapter and hopefully I'll get around to adding chapters fives and six soon. They're already written, I just neglected to post them here. Thanks!
Very interesting stuff! I like the idea of someone using the Dark Lord style of leading for a better future.
Author reply
More like the better future is icing on the cake and an effective means of controlling people. Thanks!

Rodolphus Lestrange was married to Bellatrix. Rabastan (note the spelling) Lestrange was his (as far as we knew) single brother.
Looking forward to more.
Author reply
Thank you for the spelling correction. I will go back through and fix that. I was wondering when someone would point out the mix-up. I realized that recently, but I've been reluctant to mess with it because PC does not seem to like me very much and has been frustrating to make changes on. As much as FFN annoys me, their document system is better. :sigh: Something else to fix, I suppose.
...an indeterminate early twenties to James Potter's definite twenty one. Wat? You can tell a difference between them? For that matter, is there even such a thing as "definite twenty one"?.
All in all, it got better in this chapter. No obvious mistakes and Harry's personality got closer to what I think it should be.
The thing that prevents me from being really interested in the story is the lack of motive in Harry's actions. I see what he does, but why he does it? Also, your lord Ibex is much closer to OC that to canon Harry, and in order to make reader to empathize with him you need to somehow link them, to fill those eighty years, which is not an easy task.
Or you can just change the number.
Good luck with writing.
Author reply
I can tell a difference, anyway. I suppose not everyone can. His motivations I will be revealing in the next chapter, I think, and why exactly he has those motivations. Thanks. :)
