You know what? I'm shocked. I'm amazed. A little disgusted and mayhaps excited in an unhealthy fashion. Buuut, whatever the odd combination means to you, to me it means that this is one HELL of a story. It's vastly different from what I expected, but then, I wasn't sure what to expect from the summary. Honestly, I'm just glad I didn't skip over it because this was a good trip down story road with a thick fog of uncertainty and quite a few sharp turns. I'm loving it. I love the Grim thing, and I love how Lily and Harry react to each other. It's just... Wow! I hope you update soon... please? Kidder.

Really good, Nuhuh, I'm enjoying what you have so far, and look forward to more. You have thrown in some rather...unique concepts into this story that intrigue me, good job. Yet at the same time, I am confused on certain issues. For instance, you have this taken place during Harry's trip through the forest in 7th year to go face Voldemort. Yes, he never makes it there, whatever. But what I'm confused about, is this Harry seems more mature and intelligent then what he is actually like in the book; even at the place you're starting from. Don't get me wrong, as you know, I hate Harry being a little wussy, but this change just seemed odd. The whole Grim Protocol thing, cool idea, I really enjoy it. But I honestly don't think the Dumbledore we know throughout the whole series would have such a thing, but you can do whatever you want; and it is Fanfiction. Lily seems powerful, really powerful. This is not a problem, and I like the fact that she can protect herself; but Harry isn't going to come rely on her to teach him everything is he? I don't know why, but it would just seem so cliché' if that were to happen, and I don't think I'd enjoy it. (Though this is only my opinion, and I'm sure I'll be one of the few who feels this way) You have characterization well done for the Harry you've created down really well. (Minus what I feel is a whole, previously mentioned) Keep it up. There isn't much more to go off of for right now, but I'll review as more comes and such. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need anything.

Harry is such a fag in this story. "Boo hoo, mum's a killer." Cry me a fucking river kid.

So why is Lily so sure that Moody's claim of Ms. Shay's betrayal is true? Lily is so incensed at Ms. Shay, but why? Couldn't Ms. Shay just as easily said the same the about Moody and invoked the Grim Protocol against him? It seems that being so blindly trusting is a fatal flaw either in Lily or the Grim Protocol. As for the larger picture, this is an excellent story! The time it took Harry to realize what was going on and to wrap his mind around it seemed very realistic. Your characterization of Lily and Harry (innocent yet hurt and jaded, in both cases) rings true, as does your Dumbledore (maipulative asshole). The idea that he would try to pair Lily with Snivellus for "the greater good" is chilling. Also, I'm glad you have this Lily abhor the idea of being with Snape, as I believe the canon Lily would have in the post-Hogwarts years (except for the issue of JKR's glorification of murderer/rapist Snape). Excellent, interesting work! Thanks for writing and posting it.

I think earlier in the story I mentioned that only two people can invoke the Grim, Dumbledore and Moody. So she couldn't actually use it against him. And there is history between Lily, James and Moody, so she trusts him. Glad you have liked Harry's reactions so far, and both of their characterizations. The story is a bit heavy on the characterization than the plot so far. And Cheers on the Snape comments! You will enjoy scenes with him I am sure. Thanks for the review.

Very interesting update. I see you're not afraid to have their beliefs clash, which is good. Looking forward to more.
Author reply
I think it would have happened sooner or later. Although in this case for Harry it was not only the killing but the fact that it was Lily that really bothered him.

Jeez, this site is like an effing treasure trove. Well this story is quite intriguing. I don't know if you plan on pairing Harry up with Lily, but if that's your intention, you're doing a better job of it than pretty much every other author out there. Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the compliments, I am trying to keep it as realistic as possible.

Interesting couple chapters. I like the notion of the 'tween and I think I see how you're taking us away from the boy-who-lived doing the mum-who-sacrificed, per se. Still, there's a long way to go for me to overcome the the squick factor involved in, the-boy-who-lived doing the chick who looks exactly like his mum who once had a boy just like him but it died as a baby. Perhaps thats why you've got the whole can't physically touch each other problem built in for the moment. Enjoyed the chapters. Omagic

Are you prepared to declare yourself free of the oppressive group of Harry/Lily haters yet?! Admit it! The can't touch business is serving as a plot device for several things. For one it is to emphasize that she is not quite the Lily Potter who died. I think the squick factor should be easier to handle since my focus is more on the relationship than the physical, still much more to go. Thanks for commenting on all the chapters.

So we got to the part where they meet and both are concious... I was curious what was going to happen here and if the twist that would establish a credible reason for mother and son to start makin with the love was going to crop up. Not yet though, which is interesting. As I've said before very well written. I like that there's a plot arc starting to develop after all the character building that was the first three chapters. Good work! Omagic
Author reply
Thanks Om. I wanted to establish Lily somewhat before you start learning about her through her interaction with Harry. Next few chapters are part character/relationship development and parts plot development. I probably surprised you with the lack of immediate sex huh? :)
Review for Sighs of the Neglected Flower Chapter 3 from Omagic on January 25, 2008
Interesting dynamic with McG and Dumbledore. And we finally broke the no dialogue barrier. It's a nice setup for the fic. One of the reasons I usually have a hard time with HP fanfics where Harry is not a main character from the start is that I don't feel much of a connection with any other leading character. But the little bits of back story about Lily that your weaving into the plot certainly help to make her more compelling. Nice work! O
Author reply
I always like writing McG, glad you liked her interaction with Dumbledore. I hope Lily becomes a character you can connect with, she does have a lot of back story and major role in this alternate universe. This is really a story about both Harry and Lily, her being the dominant character for sometime.
Review for Sighs of the Neglected Flower Chapter 2 from Omagic on January 25, 2008
A second good chapter. Of course there's a bit squickiness to it all with Lily going between wanting to take Harry as the James she misses and wanting to protect the now full grown son she suspects is before her. Still, it's handled well through the fact that overall she might be completely crazy anyways. I have to give you props alone for being able to write two chapters that carried no dialogue... it's a talent that I am certainly incapable of! Omagic
Author reply
Yeah, Lily is clearly confused by her emotions. She calms down in later chapters as you will see. The problem is that I began the story right in the middle of a crises for her, so you see her at her worst not how she usually is. Thanks for the comments, I actually enjoyed the dialogue free scenes. I do so much talky stuff in other fics.
Review for Sighs of the Neglected Flower Chapter 1 from Omagic on January 25, 2008
This first review I leave, For honor and friendship I do this deed. So I look upon this fic Where a mother might play with her boy's dic. But not a bad start, plot purpose withstanding Well written, good setup, overall outstanding. So, the Seussian approach to review is a bit gay. Still, good first chapter. And since we know I'm here to bust my cherry on the Harry/Lily thing I'm happy that you didn't ram it home in chapter 1. Better that you be gentle with me my first time.
Author reply
And you even wrote me a poem! Awesome. Yes, I shall be very gentle, I am trying to go slow here, which is annoying a fair number of people.

Review for Sighs of the Neglected Flower Chapter 6 from Rai on January 13, 2008
Oh, very interesting. I wish I had gotten to this sooner, but my motivation for fanfic was rather low.. In any case, I love it. I look forward to seeing how this develops, and I apologize for this review being less than constructive. I enjoyed it too much to pick through it, so I suppose that is a compliment. Thank you. - Rain
Author reply
Thanks for reading Rain, I understand, sometimes you just have to leave off fanfic, but glad you liked it so much.

Very nice. I can't wait to see more. Just out of curiosity, are you going to pair Harry and Lily together?
Author reply
More should be coming soonish, glad you liked it so far. Yes, I intend to pair them together, but that will be developed very slowly.
